This... is a very... very... serious... topic...
This is a true story about the last two weeks of my life.
Two Fridays ago, my step-mother left on a trip to Mexico and left myself to house-sit for her due to her paranoia of people breaking into the house.
The very day after she left, the house next to us was rented by a group of four college students who were planning to attend the local college. I took no mind to this... seeing as I usually avoid physical conversation anyway.
The next day was a Sunday, and when I got home from Church, all four of them were outside talking amongst themselves, and one of the girls called over and asked my name, and then tried to include me in their conversation, since I looked pretty close to their age in the first place (which I am, anyway)
I went ahead and talked to them... and somewhere in the conversation, computers came up, and I mentioned that my step-mother did not have a wireless router for my laptop to connect to, so these nice people offered to let me use their router and gave me their WEP code. They went inside to their fully furnished home (<--important information)
So for the last couple of weeks, I've been using that connection while house-sitting. Putting up with weird habits like at least one of them being outside smoking at all times on one of their three lawn chairs on their porch, and at least one of their 3 cars blocking the driveway to my step-mom's house. Friggin' annoying stuff...
Friday night... they had been home... and were living just as annoyingly... and even during all of Yesterday... like me... spent the whole day at home.
Yesterday, however... at about 9:00 pm (central time).... very dark... very quiet time of the night... the internet connection stopped working. I was still connected to the router... but it stopped letting me on the internet.
I was curious as to what might have happened, so I went outside to check who might be smoking at the time. Nobody was there... and I looked at their driveway and my own... in which NONE of their cars was in. Nobody was home.
But just to be sure, I went and knocked on their door... because the screen door was open...but there wasn't an answer. But it annoyed me a bit, because all of their lights were on... and the blinds were all open.
I looked in the window of their living room and freaked. There was no furniture at all. I looked past the living room into their kitchen. Everything in the kitchen was gone as well...including the fridge.
I looked in the other two windows I had access to... and all of the furniture in those rooms was gone as well.
The residents and their belongings were completely gone.
I went back to the front of their house and noticed that their three lawn chairs were still there.
I went back into my step-mom's house and checked my internet connection. The internet wouldn't work, but I was still connected to their router even though it was no longer there
And the thing about all of it... is that they moved in the day after my step-mother left, and disappeared shortly before her supposed time of arrival which should be tomorrow. She never even knew they were there.
I am still completely freaked out by this.
